What are the skills and education to be a CSI investigator?
  • Equivalent to an associate degree in forensic technology or a related field, or completion of a forensic/field evidence technician certification program,
  • and one year (I-level) or three years (II-level) of crime scene investigation experience.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver license.
  • Crime Scene Investigator I: Possession of a Latent Print Examiner certificate or proof of proficiency testing is required within one year of hire.
  • Crime Scene Investigator II: Possession of a Latent Print Examiner certificate or proof of proficiency testing, and acceptance as an expert witness in latent print examination is required upon hire.


 What you need to have is an associate degree in forensic technology or a field that is close to it. another thing you need is on to three tears of CSI experience. You need a valid drivers license, and a certificate saying that you took the proficiency test within a year of hire or if you're going for CSI 2 it is required upon hire.
